CORE DEPOSIT
The deposit or additional fee for the axle that is refunded when you return your Acceptable used axle (the core).

  • Only the Same Factory Original Toyota/Lexus used axle can be accepted.
  • The core must be rebuildable(most are) and have all the parts.
  • Cores should be returned within 30 days for full refund.
  • ONLY THE SAME FACTORY ORIGINAL TOYOTA OR LEXUS AXLES WILL RECEIVE CREDIT.

GENERAL BOOT INFORMATION  – TO HELP YOU CHOOSE

  • ALL BOOTS – running at higher angles will decreasethe life of any boot (as well as the axle’s internal components).
  • Outer = wheel side
  • Inner = differential side
  • Lift = total combined lift from lift kits, shocks, spacers, adjustments, etc.

Neoprene Boots                     Least expensive – BETTER

  • Order Axle 9168R or 9168
  • Industry standard boot is neoprene.
  • Quality neoprene – CVJ sources better neoprene boots than most all aftermarket axles.
  • Outer boot ONLY:
    • Usually good up to 3″ lift.
    • 1-5 year life expectancy. Or less in environments with Salt, Mag. Chloride, Ozone, Extreme Weather, …
  • Inner boot:
    • NOT FOR LIFTED.
    • 2-6 year life expectancy

90 day warranty on these boots on NON-MODIFIED vehicles only.

Original Toyota/Lexus Boots     Closest to Original Toyota/Lexus – BEST

  • Outer boot is Factory Original Toyota/Lexus Hytrel plastic
    • Tougher, more abrasion and chemical resistance.
    • Great for environments with Salt, Mag Chloride, Ozone, Extreme Weather
    • Outer boot is installed with special tools using Original Toyota or Lexus
    • Usually good up to 3″ lift. (Outer boot ONLY)
    • 5-10+ year life expectancy.
  • Inner boot is Original Equipment Toyota/Lexus neoprene.
    • NOT FOR LIFTED. (Inner boot ONLY)
    • 5-10 year life expectancy.

Higher Angle Red Silicone INNER Boots                    MODERATE LIFT – GREAT

  • Order Axle 9168TR or 9168BR or 9168R
  • Proven custom solution for moderately lifted vehicles.
  • This boot is installed on the INNER joint (differential side).
  • This boot must be CHECKED and may need to be ADJUSTED (extra clamps are provided) after installation to work for your specific truck setup. Each truck, lift kit, shocks, etc. combination is unique and custom.  All axles with Red boots come pre-adjusted for the majority of trucks. However, the Red boot still needs to be checked and may need to be adjusted for your setup.   See instructions below.
  • For lifted vehicles the Red boot will last longer than neoprene.
  • The Red boot will help if your axles are running at higher angles (lifts, raised shocks, leveling kits, etc.) and your old inner boots are:
    • at moderately higher angles
    • are rubbing on themselves
    • have longer travel
  • This Custom Inner boot design has more convolutions (ribs) so it handles higher angles better.
  • The silicone material is better in extreme temperatures.
  • The Red boots are NOT designed for extreme axle angles (lifts over 3.5”)
  • The Red Silicone boots are clamped along the axle shaft and not in the original position.

No warranty on these boots.

  • CHECKING AND ADJUSTING THE RED BOOT. With your truck at normal ride height before you re-install skid plates etc. (and using all normal precautions for working under a truck).  On axles with Red boots they come pre-adjusted for the majority of trucks. However, the Red boot still needs to be checked and may need to be adjusted for your setup.
    • CHECK for:
      • adequate clearance between the boot and all suspension/frame parts (½” ).
      • no boot ribs (convolutions) rubbing on themselves. Need 1/8” to ¼”  of clearance between the closest ribs.  Roll the truck tires ¼ turn and check again – repeat x3.
    • ADJUST the boot,
      • remove the small clamp and slide the boot so the ribs don’t touch.
      • You need 1/8” to ¼” of clearance between the closest ribs.
      • Don’t stretch the boot too far!
      • Re-clamp the boot with the extra clamps provided.

No warranty on these boots.

  • Blue Silicone outer CV boots       Between Neoprene & Original Toyota
    • Order Axle 9168BR – Red inner boot and Blue outer boot
    • Better than Neoprene but not as good as Original Equipment Toyota Hytrel plastic.
    • Silicone resists ozone and chemicals better than neoprene.
    • Resists weather checking better than neoprene.
  • No warranty on these boots.

? There are a few products that can help condition boots to help them last longer (especially neoprene). These products can be sprayed on boots periodically:

  • 303 UV Protectant Spray
  • Mclube Sailkote Spray
  • Silicone spray (CRC, Berryman, etc.)
